I played soccer—my first sporting passion—from a young age. At the same time, I also practiced karate, a sport that taught me discipline, respect, and perseverance. At age 11, I earned my second-degree black belt after several years of training.
When I turned 11, I had to make a very important decision regarding my sports career: choosing between soccer and karate. I decided to stick with soccer, as it had always been my dream to join a team and develop as a player.
For about 14 years, I kept trying to realize that dream. I would travel to Playa del Carmen to play for Atlas Playa del Carmen and seek further opportunities. I also took part in more than three soccer tryouts hoping to make a team; I made it past the first two rounds in almost every trial, but in the end, nothing materialized.
While I continued playing soccer, I also started playing pickleball as a hobby. I would play once or twice a week, never imagining that it would eventually become such an important part of my life.
After so many years pursuing a career in soccer, I discovered a new opportunity in pickleball. Gradually, I developed a passion for the sport, finding new motivation to compete, train, and continue growing as an athlete.
Today, pickleball has become my new athletic goal. Everything I experienced in soccer and karate taught me that discipline, persistence, and never giving up are essential to achieving one's dreams. Now, I want to keep working to go even further in pickleball and make the most of every opportunity that comes my way.
